100th Anniversary Special Service at Tabernacle Church
Tabernacle Congregational Church United Church of Christ is thrilled to announce the centennial celebration of its current building at 50 Washington St., marking 100 years of service and spiritual growth in the heart of Salem, Massachusetts. Join us for a special service on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at 3:00 PM, as we honor our rich heritage and the vibrant community we have fostered over the past century. Gathered as a congregation in 1629, Tabernacle’s roots are long and deep in New England history. This celebration will be an opportunity to reflect on our history, celebrate our achievements, and look forward to the future of our congregation.
We are honored to welcome Rev. Darrell Goodwin, the Executive Conference Minister of the United
Church of Christ, as our guest preacher for this momentous occasion. The Rev. Darrell L. Goodwin, a
Chicago native, is the first Executive Conference Minister of the Southern New England Conference. He
is also the first openly LGBT black person to serve as an Executive Conference Minister in the United
Church of Christ. He brings to his varying leadership roles extensive experience in pastoral ministry and
higher education. Rev. Goodwin’s dedication to spreading hope and fostering inclusivity within the
church will surely inspire all who attend.
The congregation of Tabernacle Church invites all members of the community—past and present—to join in this joyful occasion. A reception will follow. We encourage everyone to come and be part of this significant milestone in our church's journey as we celebrate 100 years in our historic building and almost 400 years as congregation in Salem.
