Prowl around the gothic interior of The First Church in Salem, founded in 1629 with a sanctuary built in 1836, and visit our guides to learn about the history of the building, the connection to Salem, and how it all began. You'll be surrounded by the mysterious atmosphere of days gone by as you marvel at the stained glass windows, admire the gothic features, and hear intriguing stories of church history. This is the church that infamously excommunicated Rebecca Nurse and Giles Corey during the Trials of 1692. This is the church of the Peabody Sisters, the Parker Family, and of Nathaniel Hawthorne. We keep our past in mind as we look to the future as a gathering place that welcomes people of all faiths. This is a fundraiser that supports the ongoing mission of our UU church, and we thank you for your generosity.
